Trap Music

Along the lines of being geeky. There is a new genre of music that embraces electronic instrumentals and clashing with hip hop. This is called Trap Music. Trap stand for Techno Rap. I find it very interesting that a someone can create such a steady beat while having a catchy tune at the same time. This is a blog that introduces only Trap music from various DJs around the world.

My Favorite Running Shoe

This past weekend The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon took place downtown Oklahoma City. Only less than 2 weeks after the Boston Marathon Bombing. Though people are still mourning over the tragedies of the Boston Marathon, Oklahoma City runners are celebrating life and raising money for The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. Reading about recent marathon activities made me think about the type of shoes that runners wear. Runners enjoy comfort as much as performance. In my opinion, I rather have a shoe that is comfortable and stylish. Thus, I am not a runner, so the performance of a shoe is not relevant to my taste in shoes. The shoe that I want to introduce is Nike Roshe Run. This my favorite running shoe because of the unique style and the comfort of the shoe. Here are the different colorways of the Nike Roshe Run releasing in Summer 2013.

Leo Chang

Leo Chang is a sneaker designer for Nike's KD Series. He has been working with Kevin Durant since 2009 on his KD IV. What's unique about Chang is that he is branching off from just creating for KD but was ask to design a special edition line for Kobe and Lebron's sneakers. The special edition is the Elite Series of each players shoes. The purpose of the Elite Series is taking the original design of the sneaker and create a shoe that is high on performance and style for the post-game season. Each player; Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, and Lebron James will debut their new sneakers during the playoffs. Not only that Chang got to redesign his own sneaker but he gets to redesign shoes made from other great designers. The series of photos are meant to show how the design process works. Although this is just a teaser, Chang has not unveil the final product. Talking Shoe

ArtCopyCode by Google has collaborate with Zachary Lieberman, founder of YesYesNo, to create a “Talking Shoe” that sends data to web apps and broadcast the information through Google+ and other social media sites. The concept behind the shoe is very interesting because it connects everyday objects to advance technology for the sake of storytelling. This is a great way for a person to record workout routines or just try to stay connected to there friends with the distractions of fondling with you're phone. Although, it may need some design changes but it is very innovative to have wearable technology. Check out the first look at the "Talking Shoe" in the video below.

Dave Rhea

Blogger, Dave Rhea had a special appearance in class today. He gave us a great insight on how blogging has impact journalism. Due to blogging, print news is becoming obsolete to journalism. Rhea explained that now journalists are blogging more often. I agree to that statement because blogging is a much simpler way to express ideas and thoughts without rules of medis ethics. The only thing that is holding a journalist back from telling the truth is knowing whether or not they should.

Dave Rhea defined blogging as an expression point, a place to share ideas. It is no difference from movies or songs. Blogging is rather time consuming, the only way to keep a blog interesting is to be creative. The creativity derives from the types of storytelling you present. Rhea explain that you should tell a story in 3 different ways: text, video, and audio. This will give the readers many outlets to interpret the story and keeps the readers interested.

Even though my blog is less about story and more about information, I do consider all of those media outlets to deliver my post. Rhea has given me much inspiration to write blog post with a new state of mind. Given my post a tad bit of new and creative ways to deliver content.

To be a better blogger

ProBlogger

ProBlogger gave a great insight on how to make my blog look better. The advice that stood out was grouping ideas. The posts that I write are usually descriptions of products, so making lists is an ideal route for my blog.

About.com

This provided a great way to make your blog stand out visually. My take on the creating a visually appealing blog is to have a color scheme. Images can be used and can help grab the attention but I feel like having too many images can be clutter.

16 Rules of Blog Writing

My favorite rule that I feel applies greatly to my blog is keeping the paragraphs short. That is the only way to keep the attention of the audience. Because my audience would read the post about the description and move right to the image. Keeping a consistency of short paragraphs and common theme will keep my blog interesting.

BlogScoped

BlogScoped focused on the writing style on the blog posts. When writing my posts, I apply the inverted pyramid because it requires you to start the post with information that is most important to least important. Also, I use a lot images and lists because that gives a better description of the post.

Typography

ThisIsColossal

This is a very interesting blog about visual arts, but the presentation is poorly done. I feel that the typefaces used were very small and made it difficult to read. Also, the color contrast blends together to make it again hard to follow. Overall, the blog can be tolerated because of the visual images but the type they used is very hard to follow.

UpscaleHype

This is a blog about high-end fashion sightings on celebrities. This is a pretty linear blog about a very specific area, but the type makes easy to follow. It uses a very large font and contrasting size in the subtitles. The choice of size and contrasts helps the readers follow better when there is not much to read. This is blog is the first blog the caught my eye solely based the typefaces and the large subtitles.

Release of Air Jordan III Retro '88

The Air Jordan III have been an iconic sneaker that have stayed alive for more than two decades. The biggest breakthrough was the design of the shoe. The first two shoes of the Air Jordan series were based on fashion aspect of the sneakers. The Air Jordan III followed that trend but created a new design  the public are not familiar with.

Michael Jordan seen here wearing the Air Jordan III during the 1988 Slam Dunk Competition.
Back in 1988, Air Jordan release a shoe that had a unique elephant print that has never been used on a shoe before. The sneaker was designed by Tinker Hatfield, who later became one of the most influential man in the sneaker culture. Along with that very distinct pattern on the shoe, the Air Jordan III was the first time ever that Jordan and Nike introduce the Jumpman logo on a shoe. This created a new symbol for Jordan Brand because for the first time, the Jumpman can stand alone without piggy backing next to the Nike swoosh.

The official name for the colorway is White/Black/Red/Cement
On February 6, 2013, Jordan Brand are re-releasing the Air Jordan III with all original design, including the Nike Air logo. The shoe was re-release in 1994, 2001, 2007, and 2011 but had Jumpman logo on the back heel. Whereas, the Air Jordan III Retro '88 features the iconic Nike Air logo that has not been on the shoe since 1988. This year, the sneaker is retail at $200 exclusive at NikeStore. This is the most anticipated sneaker by Jordan Brand releasing this year so far.

Evaluation of Hypebeast

Hypebeast is a very upscale blog that informs the viewers on the latest urban and high-end fashion, hip-hop culture, sneaker releases, and lifestyle cultures that the general public are not familiar with. The blog's main focus is on the development and progression of fashion community. One of the most interesting features that has become ongoing are the ESSENTIALS posts. The ESSENTIALS post focuses on different designers and/or people that affect the fashion industry and the daily essentials that they bring with them. This offers readers to be introduce or inspire by their favorite people and get a sense of what their interests are.

The picture above is from the recent ESSENTIALS post about David Rasool Robinson (a manager, photographer and buyer for St Alfred).
I believe this blog can help me understand about the latest fashion, music, arts, and lifestyle. What caught my interest is not only the topics that it focuses on but the way it is presented. The presentation of the blog is simple and straight forward. This allows people to read what they want and not be distracted by a lot of pictures and scrolling through ads. I like to take that aspect of the blog and allow every post to be easy to read and simple images where it focuses on one topic at a time. Although there is one distinctive weakness that the blog has. The blog is biased towards particular brands of fashion because Hypebeast also has a store where they sell clothes, footwear, and accessories for men.The blog would post about fashion that caters to women but they sell only men's fashion, which makes it very unclear about the audience it really want to capture. If the store offers a variety for men and women then it will draw a more wide audience.
